Politics of Heresy in Ambrose of Milan

Auteur: Williams, Michael Stuart (National University of Ireland, Maynooth)
Editeur: Cambridge University Press
Almost all modern accounts of Ambrose give prominence to his struggle against a 'heretical' opposition in Milan. This book revisits the evidence and argues that these 'heretics' were misrepresented by Ambrose in order to provide a convenient (and sometimes imaginary) enemy against whom his congregation could be persuaded to unite.
